A reproduction of the Metro 6R4 in preparation

A rally icon will soon be back on stage. The British tuner MST Cars, specializing in the “restomod” (modernizing an old car to make it benefit from the latest technologies) of Ford Escort Mk1 and Mk2, will revive the Metro 6R4, one of the flagship cars of the Group B era in World Rally Championship.

Far from being a mere rebirth, this new Metro 6R4 will feature a bespoke carbon fiber body and a modern 3.0L V6 engine, which is expected to produce between 350hp to 450hp. It will also have all-wheel drive and a sequential gearbox.

Little information has been given concerning the other technical specificities of the Metro 6R4 21st century version. However, two specifications should be available: a richer and more refined road version and a stripped track version. The price should be around 300,000 pounds sterling (340,000 euros), with a production of around 10 cars per year.

If the project is still in progress, MST Cars reveals on its Facebook post that those most interested must “register their interest for 2024”implying that deliveries might begin next year.
