The Open P2i Angers Arena Loire returns to the Arena Loire Trélazé from December 4 to 10. This third edition once once more promises great duels with seven players from the top 100 competing.
Who will succeed Alycia Parks? It is difficult to predict the winner of the third edition of the Open P2i Angers Arena Loire as the competition is so intense this year. The organizers have put together a high-flying field made up of seven players from the top 100. The competitors will compete in the competition from December 4 to 10 at the Arena Loire Trélazé.
A Franco-Italian duel in perspective
This year, the No. 1 seed is Elisabetta Cocciaretto. The Italian, 52nd in the world, overthrew Petra Kvitova (top 10) last summer and reached the final of the Billie Jean King Cup. In good form, she won her very first WTA title this season, in Lausanne, beating Clara Burel in the final. The Frenchwoman will also be the other big attraction of the tournament. The Breton, seeded n°2, will be keen to end an accomplished season in style (61st). “It has been in excellent momentum since the start of the year, which bodes very well”, underlines Pauline Parmentier, the ambassador of the Open P2i Angers Arena Loire. Other experienced tricolors like Océane Dodin (102nd) and Jessika Ponchet (122nd) might do well. And for the first time, the tournament welcomes Alizé Cornet (118th), former world n°11 and record holder for consecutive participations in Grand Slam (67).
In total, seven players from the top 100 will set foot on the Angevin courts, promising fierce oppositions: to the players already mentioned are added the Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (65th), the German Tamara Korpatsch (73rd), the Belgian Yanina Wickmayer (74th, winner of five WTA tournaments since the start of her career), and the Dane Clara Tauson (85th). The young German Eva Lys (130th), making full progress this season, might also create a surprise. Let the best win !
