A remake or remaster would be in preparation for the PS5

This is the slightly crazy rumor of this beginning of the week: Horizon Zero Dawn might well benefit from a new improved version designed for the PlayStation 5. A remaster or remake is currently in preparation with graphic improvements but also with other new features. A rumor that may make people cringe as the game is recent, but which seems very real.

With the arrival of multiplayer

A few weeks ago Sony released a remake of the first The Last of Us. A new iteration that has caused a lot of ink to flow, since many players have strongly criticized the price of 80€ for a title that was released less than ten years ago, and which was already magnificent at the time. . But the Japanese manufacturer has other cartridges in reserve.

The rumor was first started by the site Mp1st who claims to have a source close to the studio and who explains than a remake or remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn would be in preparation for the PlayStation 5. According to the source, this new edition would feature an improved lighting system with ambient occlusion, revised textures, better animations, different graphics modes with the presence of VRR and new character models to match the standards of its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. The site explains that the source did not specify whether it was a simple remaster or a real remake built from scratch.

The improvements would not only be graphical since, according to said source, this remake/remaster would introduce a slew of new accessibility options, as we have seen in the latest PlayStation productions. The gameplay mechanics will also be slightly improved but without major change, only slight improvements concerning the comfort of play that we saw in the second episode.

In addition, Mp1st specifies that other sources close to the project would have confirmed the statements of the first, by affirming that all this is true. Corridor noises concerning a multiplayer game have also been revived, with an online playable title that would be released on PC and PS5. We do not know more, but this helps to further strengthen the rumors of a multiplayer standalone that persist since 2020.

A completely plausible rumor

If usually we tend to warn regarding this kind of rumors that come out of nowhere, everything suggests that this one is true. Already because the rumors around a multiplayer title are not new and have been circulating for a few years, well before the confirmation of the second part, but also because other trusted sites have corroborated the same information.

This is the case of the serious media VGC (behind many proven scoops) who also claims to have several sources that go in this direction. According to them, there would be a new version of Horizon Zero Dawn currently in development for the new generation and confirms the expected improvements listed above.

VGC takes the opportunity to recall that they too had heard of a multiplayer game and that they had spoken regarding it last year. Remember that VGC had hit the nail on the head at many times regarding the Horizon license. Note also that the latter had mentioned plans around a third episode and that there should have been cooperation in Forbidden Westbefore this feature is discarded to possibly integrate it either in the future component, or in this famous multiplayer title.

In short, everything suggests that these rumors are true, as the sources multiply and converge. We imagine that this will make the internet react a lot, who will wonder if this remaster / remake was a real necessity, just a few years following its launch on PlayStation 4. With The Last of Us Part I sold at a high price, we imagine that anything is possible . let’s remember that Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017 on PS4 and then in 2020 on PC. We imagine that it is to apprehend a new audience who would like to discover the franchise on new generation or who will land following the future TV series.
