Hala Al Khayyat (Abu Dhabi)
Environment Agency Abu Dhabi experts recently monitored the first flowering of the only Sarh tree in Abu Dhabi, since it was first discovered in Al Ain in July 2020. During this season, the tree appeared in a green color adorned with an attractive yellow crown. The discovery of the 100-year-old Sarh tree comes within the framework of the Authority’s efforts to monitor and evaluate local plants, and it is classified as rare, as another single tree of the same type was discovered in Ras Al Khaimah. The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi planted 25 seedlings of Sarh trees within the boundaries of the Jebel Hafeet National Park as part of the program to preserve and propagate important local plants, given their environmental importance, as they are the ideal shelter for many bird species.
