Today, Monday, the Gharbia Governorate, in northern Egypt, witnessed a rare case where a baby girl was born covered with pure wax.
Al-Mahalla General Hospital received a rare birth of a baby girl in a serious health condition, as she was born with her entire body surrounded by wax, while the doctors were baffled to explain the cause of the condition they were facing for the first time.
The medical staff decided to place the child in the hospital’s incubators and subject her to full medical observation, while it was found that the wax was attached to the child’s body since it was formed as a complete fetus in her mother’s womb.
Dr. Osama Bulbul, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gharbia, issued instructions to prepare a periodic report on the child’s condition, and to ensure the provision of care that coincides with her health conditions, according to a specific and complete schedule.
For his part, the medical staff revealed that the cause of the child’s condition may be due to consanguineous marriage and the presence of a defect in the genes that leads to severe defects in the skin at birth, which is a rare disease called “collodion baby”, indicating that the girl’s recovery rates are weak, due to hereditary genes and the childbearing factor of the child. The mother and the components of her womb.
