One of the most spectacular and anticipated meteor showers of the year has been taking place since mid-July. This is called the Perseids.
This natural phenomenon will be most visible on the night of August 11-12 and August 12-13.
The Perseids are actually meteors or showers of shooting stars. The Earth passes in a kind of cloud. […] It’s a bit like what happens in the solar system; there are remnants of the formation of the planets, explains Pierre Paquette, astronomy ambassador for the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. This debris burns up as it enters our atmosphere and literally glows.
To observe them, you will have to get away from the cities and stay up late, because the second part of the night is the best time to see shooting stars, adds Pierre Paquette.
