The internationally oriented Quebec company Medicom, specializing in the production and distribution of solutions related to the prevention and control of infections, announced Friday that it had purchased the mask producer Humask and its assets in Entreprise Prémont, which will remain Quebec.

The Louiseville company, whose production of masks was mainly used during the pandemic, will therefore cease its activities in the town of Mauricie.

“As part of our continued commitment to providing quality, cutting-edge infection prevention and control solutions, we are pleased to expand the availability of these products to new markets and continue developing the technologies in new solutions that meet the constantly evolving needs of the market,” commented Guillaume Laverdure, CEO of Medicom.

This buyout extends the life of the Prémont Company.

“This transaction therefore ensures the sustainability and availability of our range of innovative protective equipment proudly developed right here in Quebec. I would like to personally thank all the staff and partners who have worked directly or indirectly to make Entreprise Premont/Humask a leader in the field,” commented Luc Girard, former founding vice-president, Entreprise Prémont.

Humask products will still be available to order directly through the Humask online store, until they are incorporated into the Medicom store.
