According to the expert, this is a real disease. For people who suffer from it, the mere thought of not having access to a smartphone causes fear, panic, stress, depressed mood and sleep disturbances.
The psychologist says that anyone can face this disease. However, the risk zone primarily includes individuals suffering from low self-esteem and experiencing difficulties in communication. Because in virtual reality you can hide under a mask and pretend to be someone else.
As Petrova explained, in the digital world you can find friends, games, entertainment, and communicate with people from other countries. It’s really hard to give up.
The expert believes that to get rid of nomophobia, not only therapy is necessary, but also medication.
