The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium has placed the province of Luxembourg on yellow alert for risk of thunderstorms. This warning will be effective from tonight at 8 p.m. and will end overnight at 2 a.m. “Tonight showers (sometimes stormy) will go up from France to our country. The main thunderstorm activity is expected over northeastern France and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, but it might spill over into the province of Luxembourg. In this case, accumulations of 10 or even 20 l/m² can be observed in a short time”, indicates the MRI.
The number 1722 for non-emergency interventions by firefighters has also been activated for the risk of storms and flooding.
This evening
This evening and in the first part of the night, the cloudiness will remain variable to abundant with an increasing risk of showers from France. One or the other clap of thunder can be heard. In the second part of the night, the weather will often become dry with the development of wider clearings, but also mist and sometimes low clouds or fog banks, mainly in the Ardennes. The minima will regularly reach 10 to 14 degrees in the different regions or even 15 degrees by the sea or in Gaume. The wind will become weak from the northeast or from a variable direction.
Saturday
Saturday, the day will begin with large sunny spells, but also with fields of mist, fog or low clouds in places. Gradually, cumuliform clouds will develop and will alternate with sunny spells. They will sometimes be quite numerous and may lead to a few showers in the followingnoon, mainly in the regions close to the French border and in the south-east of the country. The maxima will reach 22 degrees on the coast or in the upper Ardennes 25 to 26 degrees in the plain. The wind will initially be weak and variable before moving to the west or northwest.
Saturday evening and the night of Saturday to Sunday, the weather will be calm and large clearings will develop. These will share the sky with altitude sails. In addition, some mist and fog fields may develop. The minima will be between 10 degrees in the Ardennes and 14 or 15 degrees in the plain. The wind will be light and will blow to the southwest.
