The Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater held a press conference to celebrate Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan, one of the honorees of the closing ceremony. The seminar was moderated by journalist Shaima Mansour, who began her speech as one of the important and influential theatrical figures, as he has a long history as he is an actor, poet, writer, supporter of the Sharm El-Sheikh Festival and founder of the Sharm El-Sheikh Festival. The head of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater, director Mazen Al-Gharabawi, spoke regarding Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan’s support for the festival and his role in supporting young cadres. He is one of the founders of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater, and he was always present in the darkest times, as well as he is one of the developers of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Theater Festival. He is youthful and enjoys great humanity. On the professional level, he was the first to make long and wide strides in the cultural file in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. When the Ministry of Culture was established in Saudi Arabia and the state awards were inaugurated, he was the first playwright to win state awards, so he was the first in culture and theater and he has a large and prolific production.
Journalist Shaima Mansour asked several questions to Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan, including regarding his beginnings in theater, his presence in Egypt, and the reason for his permanent support for the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival.
Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan talked regarding his beginnings and his love for theater and art at the age of twelve, and he loved poetry and theater, and he was directing and writing many theatrical works, and his beginning as an actor, and his family was trying to prevent him from practicing his hobby in writing, directing, and theatrical acting, for fear that this would affect his life. study it.
Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan described the Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater as love and affection, and it was the beginning of his acquaintance with director Mazen Al-Gharabawi, head of the Sharm El-Sheikh Festival, and Dr. Angie El-Bestawy, director general of the festival.
He continued that he got acquainted with the festival through his theatrical friends, Dr. Abdullah Al-Aber, Faisal Al-Qahtani and director Ali Alyan, who explained to him that there is a festival that will start in its first session in Sharm El-Sheikh and needs to open new horizons for the Arab world, and indeed at that time he got to know the director Mazen Al-Gharabawi and Dr. Anji El-Bestawy, who is preparing it as a member of his family, explaining that he witnessed the great development of the festival until its seventh session, which is being held now.
And he explained that all playwrights resort to Egypt, as it is considered a beacon for playwrights everywhere in the Arab world, stressing his strong love for Egypt and his keenness to attend commercial plays and plays produced by the state theatre, and he referred to his experiences in the Egyptian theatre, as he had an acting experience at the Peace Theatre. As well as his participation in the experimental festival, and he used to meet Egyptian professors and friends who taught him at King Faisal University.
He stated that he had won several awards, including the honoring of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for him and his obtaining the State Appreciation Award, and a large number of playwrights who had great weight in the theater applied for this competition, but the committee considered that his file was most appropriate to obtain the State Appreciation Award, and he also won the award for Best Actor in Youth Festival in Bahrain in 1993.
He referred to the role of director Mazen Al-Gharabawi in establishing the Arab Production Association. He has white hands on this association, explaining the steps of the project. He and director Mazen Al-Gharabawi submitted the papers related to the association to the League of Arab States, and together they presented the first joint production, which is the show “Declared Suicide.” All the show’s rehearsals took place in Tunisia. Director Essam El-Sayed, director Nasser Abdel-Moneim and Dr. Sameh Mahran were shown at the experimental festival and believed in the idea of joint production between Arab countries. The show achieved great resonance and he and director Mazen Al-Gharabawi presented another work, and they are in the process of preparing for the third work.
During his speech, he referred to his next and important project, which is the dramatization of Arab symbols. The symposium concluded with several interventions from the audience, including the intervention of the artist Amal Al-Dabbas, who described Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan as a person and an artist of high caliber.
