Leaks had multiplied as early as March concerning Vivo’s future foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold. In particular, he had been preview in photo last month. And as expectedthe Chinese brand finally presented its phone at an event, thus officially embarking on the race for the best smartphone pliable. However, given the characteristics displayed, there is a good chance that it will soon be in the lead.

The very high end by Vivo

This presentation in due form confirmed what we already knew on the technical sheet of the device. This incorporates very high-end: a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, supported by 12 GB of RAM and internal storage of 256 GB or 512 GB. The battery size is 4,600 mAh, with 66 W wired fast charging, 50 W wireless.

Vivo’s new folding phone is also strong on the photo side: the lenses, developed by Zeiss, are five in number. The main camera has a 50 MP sensor accompanied by four other sensors, including a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle, plus two other sensors of 12 and 8 MP.

Its screens are also impressive: Vivo has integrated a large AMOLED folding panel of 8.03 inches in 2K +, as well as a 6.53 inch exterior screen, AMOLED too, and FHD +. The screens both benefit from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Two fingerprint readers are placed under the screens. These are not optical sensors, but ultrasonic sensors.

Unsurprisingly, the phone comes natively under Android 12 (Origin OS). In addition, and as expected, the Vivo X Note and the Vivo Pad were also presented.

Vivo X Fold: price and availability

But as often, European technophiles will have to bite the brakes. The Vivo X Fold will, at first in any case, be sold only in China, at a price of 8999 CNY (in 12+256 GB) and 9999 CNY (in 12+512), i.e. respectively around 1300 and 1450 euros .

It will apparently be available from April 22, in two colors (gray and light blue).
