The Papua New Guinea government has seen the joining of a coffee ministry, according to a report by the British newspaper, The Guardian.
MP Joe Kuli, from Anglimp-South Waghi, was announced as the first coffee minister in Papua New Guinea’s new Cabinet.
Also, this ministerial position is considered the first in the world, and no ministerial formation has seen it before.

According to the report, the creation of a ministry in this country reflects the government’s interest in vital agriculture for the economy.
The government also created another new ministry, the Ministry of Palm Oil.

What is the goal?
The main objective of establishing this ministry is to raise the annual profit rate from exporting Papua New Guinea coffee, by increasing the number of countries that can be potential markets.
Coffee in Papua New Guinea is the second largest agricultural crop in the country, following palm oil. Coffee represents 27% of Papua New Guinea’s total exports of crops, and 6% of the country’s total exports.
It is noteworthy that Papua New Guinea is a country located in the eastern half of the island of Papua (the second largest island in the world) in the southwest Pacific Ocean, near Indonesia.
