A prayer service was held in the regional capital on the Day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul

The Day of the Holy Supreme Apostles Peter and Paul is an official city holiday. This year, Petropavlovsk celebrated its name day for the fourth time.

The supreme apostles Peter and Paul are the city’s heavenly patrons. At the monument of the same name in the city center, Archbishop Feodor of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka held a prayer service, following which flowers were laid at the monument erected in honor of the holy apostles.

The event was attended by officials, clergy, law enforcement officers, public organizations, residents and guests of the city.

The Day of the Holy Supreme Apostles Peter and Paul officially became a memorial date in the regional capital by decision of the City Duma deputies in the spring of 2021. Now it is celebrated annually on July 12 – the day when the saints are honored by all Orthodox believers.
