The Concours d’Elegance St-Moritz was not just the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful cars in the world. Admittedly, visitors and curious people flocked to observe models from prestigious brands. Some copies are even particularly rare, like a Pagani Huayra Codalunga. A funny vehicle, which has its source in one of the most iconic models of the German manufacturer, la 356A. Nevertheless, the team that brought it for the St. Moritz competition seems to attach very little importance to its authenticity. Here, only its usefulness counts, to which is added a touch of humanitarianism. The Porsche was used to draw attention to the victims of the human trafficking.

This funny Porsche had already done talk regarding her in 2021when a woman, Renée Brinkerhoff, had decided to embark on a crossing of Antarctica using a 356A mounted on skis and tracks. The project was named Project 356 World Rally Tour and received the support of the German brand. Porsche was satisfied that one of its models might tread the ground of the South Pole and that its cars would be used for a humanitarian cause.
The crossing of Antarctica did not happen in a few weeks. Renée Brinkerhoff and her team took two years to complete the journey of 220 kilometers (356 miles, in reference to the 356 model they used) that they had set themselves. Back from their expedition, they made a detour through St-Moritz to once once more exhibit their modified Porsche. And take the opportunity to once once more highlight their fight once morest human trafficking.

A vehicle “polar”
This Porsche 356A is called the “polar Porsche”. A priori, wearing a 356A might seem curious: the model is starting to date! But the car did the job for this trip to Antarctica. The modification of this old Porsche took him 18 months. Along with the additions of skis and tracks, he added a modified suspension system with single link and coil suspension in the rear. Several technical inputs were necessary for it to resists cold. This is particularly the case with a 12-volt low-temperature air compressor. The only problem: its speed, which is only 40 km/h. No wonder it took so long to cover 220 kilometers with her!
