The loss of lives in resource-blessed Myanmar is a heartbreaking tragedy, Catholic bishops in the country said.

This statement is contained in the peace request signed by the head of the local Catholic Bishops’ Association, Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Mandalay Archbishop Marco Thin Win, and Tawangi Archbishop Basilio Attai on behalf of the various religious leaders in the country.

This peace appeal recalls that in recent times there have been major threats once morest the sanctity of life in Annad, many lives have been lost and famine has taken hold. The bishops express grief over the incidents where places of worship and monasteries where people seek peace have been attacked and turned into killing fields.

Recalling the fact that the Myan people have suffered a lot, the bishops say that all guns should be silenced, that as brothers and sisters we should extend our hands to each other and go on a sacred peace pilgrimage, peace is possible and that is the only way.
