In an interview we now learn that with the first Last of Us title more than a DLC had been planned. In it one wanted the fate of Ellie’s mother tell.

The Last of Us is one of the most important video games of our time. Already two hugely successful video game titles with a lauded DLC, a comic book series and even a live-action series adapted from live action should really be the story. However, we now learn that once even a DLC was planned, in which we the fate of Ellies Mutter would have experienced.
The ways to tell regarding Ellie’s mother
In an interview with Variety, has Neil Druckmanthe co-president of the computer game developer Naughty Dog and he Last of Us Inventors reveal how the hit video game franchise with the first title was created. Many decisions had to be made. One of them was the fate of Ellies Mutter. After developing the game, they wanted to make an animated short film regarding it. It would later become a DLC. But in the end this was not implemented.
Ellie’s mother is mentioned in the game
The Creator, who loves the world he created, says he is sad that that part of the story has never been told. Because the presence of Ellies Mutter was always felt for him in the game. We know that though Ellies folding knife comes from her mother. Also gives a note from Ellie’s mother an idea of what kind of person she was.
Whether the animated short film would have been well received is questionable, but a DLC would certainly have been very interesting. Maybe will Ellies Mutter also covered in the current series. Because the series was able to score with fans and critics with the first episode. Of course, the DLC might still be implemented at some point.
