One airplane of the company China Eastern Airlines with 132 passengers on board it crashed this Monday in southwest China. This was reported by the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) and the number of victims is currently unknown.
The plane “lost contact while flying over the city of Wuzhou”in the mountainous region of Guangxi, according to the CAAC, which indicated that the device was carrying 123 passengers and 9 crew members.
The Boeing 737 It would have crashed in a rural area near that city, and “caused a fire” in the mountain, Chinese television CCTV said. After the accident, rescue teams rushed to the scene.
Local media reported that according to airport staff, China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 did not arrive at its intended destination in Guangzhou following taking off from the city of Kunming (southwest) shortly following 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
The China Eastern airline did not issue any comment on the matter for now.
The last major plane crash in China was in August 2010, with a balance of 42 victims.
