A place of history and tourism that you are unaware of

The lush green area with natural lakes filled with salt water in the wide mountain range of ‘Salt Range’ on the highway from Islamabad to Lahore is also called as ‘Wadi-e-Sonskiskar’ or ‘Valley of Peacocks’ in the local language. Another reason for its fame is its salt mines.

Located in Khushab District of Punjab, this valley is 290 km from Islamabad and 30 minutes from M2 Motorway. Spread over 300 square miles, the Sonsaksar valley consists of beautiful natural lakes, waterfalls, waterfalls, lush forests. This valley is one of the few places in Punjab where there is snowfall.

Son valley starts from Kalkarkhar and most of the tourists visiting here start their visit from the shrine of ‘Ahu Bahu’ or ‘Peacock Lord’ on the top of the hill. Where are the graves of the two grandsons of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. Outside the shrine there is a bazaar for ornamental goods for pilgrims, with a cable car lift to reach the side of the hill and the adjacent shrine.

Between the shrine on the hill and the lake is Babri’s throne. According to the plaque, the Mughal Emperor Zahiruddin Babur’s army carved a rock and made a throne for Babur, on which the Mughal emperor stood and addressed his troops.

There are places of entertainment for tourists in the valley. There is no better place for a summer vacation than the Son Valley.
