Thank you for reading the news regarding a phenomenon that threatens life on Earth .. This is what is happening inside the sun and now with the details
Aden – Yasmine El Tohamy – Astronomers have warned that the sun is entering a period of “catastrophic hibernation”, which leads to blocking it and entering the lowest phase of solar energy, which may cause freezing weather and earthquakes.
Experts believe we are on the cusp of entering the deepest period of sun rays ever recorded, with sunspots virtually disappearing, according to the British newspaper, The Sun.
“The solar minimum has already happened, and it’s deep,” said astronomer Tony Phillips. “The sun’s magnetic field has become weak, allowing additional cosmic rays into the solar system.”
“Excess cosmic rays pose a health risk to astronauts and travelers in the polar air, affect the electrochemistry in Earth’s upper atmosphere, and may help cause lightning.”
NASA scientists fear that it is a repeat of the “Dilton Minimum” phenomenon, which occurred between 1790 and 1830, which led to periods of severe cold, crop loss, famine and powerful volcanic eruptions.
Temperatures have fallen by as much as 2°C over a 20-year period, destroying world food production.
On April 10, 1815, the second largest volcanic eruption in 2,000 years occurred at Mount Tambora in Indonesia, killing at least 71,000 people, and also leading to the so-called summer without a year in 1816, when snow fell in July.
So far this year, the sun has been “empty” with no sunspots 76 percent of the time, a rate that was exceeded only once in the space age last year, when it was 77 percent empty.
A previous study revealed that the sun, although it is the most important source of energy for life on Earth, is “a little sleepy” compared to other stars in the universe.
Astronomers from the Max Planck Institute in Germany compared the sun to hundreds of similar stars. Using data from NASA’s Kepler space telescope, the researchers selected stars with a surface temperature, age and rotation similar to the sun, in the Milky Way.
The results showed that the Sun is very weak compared to most other stars by regarding 5 times.
“We were very surprised that most Sun-like stars are much more active than the Sun,” said Alexander Shapiro, of the Max Planck Institute.
The researchers say it is not clear whether the sun has been “going through a quiet period” for 9,000 years or if it is less bright than other similar stars.
