(CNN) – The match between Portugal and Uruguay at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, on Monday, in the second round of Group H of the 2022 World Cup, was stopped briefly due to a person carrying a rainbow flag storming the match field.
The incident occurred in the 51st minute of the match, and FIFA’s global television broadcast avoided showing the intruding person, but he might be seen running on the field, trailing the flag while being pursued by security officials, while an official was later seen raising the flag from the ground.
And the pictures of the agency, “Getty”, showed the flag bearer wearing a T-shirt with the words “Respect for Iranian women” and “Save Ukraine” written on his back.
CNN has reached out to FIFA and tournament organizers for more information regarding the incident.
