A pedestrian was knocked down by a car at the corner of Papineau and Beaubien streets, in the borough of Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, on Sunday morning.
The victim, a man in his 60s, was taken unconscious to a hospital and remains in critical condition, according to police spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The driver, also in his sixties, was not injured and will be heard by the police.
The collision occurred around 3:55 a.m. on rue Papineau when the pedestrian was crossing the road, near rue Beaubien.
The car was heading south, witnesses said.
The road is closed and a perimeter has been erected on rue Papineau between rue Bellechasse and rue Beaubien.
A collision investigation investigator will come to the scene to determine the circumstances of the accident.
