A pastor in Mozambique died following trying to fast 40 days, as Jesus Christ would have done, according to a Gospel of the Biblereported our British colleagues from the BBC, Thursday, February 16. Francisco Barajah, founder of a church in the central city of Beira, went without water or food for 25 days before dying in hospital.
The 30-year-old had developed acute anemia, which severely damaged his digestive system. At the hospital, where he was brought at the insistence of his relatives, caregivers tried to rehydrate him, without success. The pastor was also a French teacher in the province of Messica, in the west of the country.

It is not the first time that a person has died imitating the fasting of Jesus Christ, as described in the Gospel of Matthew, reports the BBC. In 2015, a Zimbabwean died following 30 days. In 2006, a woman was found dead in London while following this type of fast.
