Zurich Today

Wednesday morning, around 8:15 a.m., a passerby found an unconscious child in the fifth district of Zurich, near the Escher-Wyss square, on the side of the VBZ tram depot. He informed the municipal police intervention centre. When emergency services arrived on the scene, they might only confirm the death of the boy.

The Zurich municipal police assume that he was the victim of a traffic accident. In a press release, it specifies that the cause and the course of the accident are not clear just like the other people involved. According to a spokesperson, a hit and run cannot be ruled out.

Specialists from the Technical Accident Service and the Forensic Institute of Zurich went to the scene to carry out a complete survey of the traces. The cause of death will be determined by the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The investigation is continuing and a call for witnesses has been launched.
