Parliamentary representative Hassan Oumribat from the Agadir district raised the problem of the loss of passengers’ luggage at national airports and the delay in receiving it, pointing out that this “unique phenomenon” contributes to painting a negative image of the services provided by our airports and their organizational capabilities.
A member of the Progress and Socialism Team confirmed in a written question addressed to the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdel Jalil, that Moroccan airports witness, on an almost daily basis, the loss of the luggage and bags of many travelers arriving in our country.
Omrebit considered that this problem was repeated continuously, especially through Royal Air Maroc flights at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, where he said in this regard: “If it is the custom for the traveler, upon his arrival, to receive his luggage and bags, some people wait for long hours. Which turns into several days, or he is surprised by the news of her loss and disappearance.”
Omrebit continued his speech, saying: “In this way, travel turns into an arduous journey searching for luggage and bags, and into suffering instead of recreation and enjoyment of meeting loved ones and friends. Rather, it turns into a curse for travelers who want to spend their vacation in places far from the arrival airport.”
The “Al-Kitab” parliamentarian stressed that: “This unique phenomenon gives a negative image of the services provided by our airports and their organizational capabilities, and contributes to weakening the tourist attraction, in parallel with its targeting of its competitive capabilities.”
The same spokesman pointed out that: “Strengthening the relations of Moroccan citizens residing abroad with their country of origin, the success of upcoming sporting events and international forums, and the achievement of major tourism projects for their goals depend on the extent to which our airport’s air transport services are improved, especially at the level of reception and the luggage and baggage claim service.”
Based on this unhealthy situation, Omrebit asked about the reasons for the delays and the loss of passengers’ luggage and luggage at Moroccan airports, before demanding that the minister responsible for the sector reveal the measures and procedures that will be taken with the aim of improving air transport services.
