A paramedic on duty is punched in the face by a passerby: “Our colleague is unable to work”


On Sunday followingnoon, a Brussels fire paramedic was attacked by a passerby, fire department spokesman Walter Derieuw reported.

The paramedic was packing equipment into an ambulance when the passerby asked him what was going on“, added the spokesperson. “When the rescuer replied that everything was under control, the individual suddenly punched him hard in the face. Our colleague was injured in the face and his glasses were damaged.

Our colleague is unable to work“, added the spokesperson. “We hope that the perpetrator will be identified and will be subject to dissuasive and exemplary prosecution.“The incident occurred on Sunday followingnoon around 2:00 p.m., rue Godefroid de Bouillon in Saint-Josse, further specified the spokesperson.

After the blow, the individual fled. A complaint has been filed with the police and the fire department will join the complaint and file a civil action.
