A nurse assaulted while making her rounds in Amay

It is an unpleasant misadventure experienced by Delphine Bouveroux, a home nurse from Villers-le-Bouillet. She was assaulted on Thursday as she left a building in the Cité Rorive, in Amay. She was bitten by dogs, deliberately released on her, before being threatened with a sharp object. “I go to the building several times a day to give insulin shots to a patient who lives there”explains the nurse, still under the influence of emotion. “I saw three young people that I have already met in the neighborhood. They had dogs.” Without a word being exchanged, the young people would then have dropped the leashes of their dogs. “I was at the end of the long corridor leading to the entrance hall. A small dog, I believe a small Chihuahua, attacked my left leg.” The nurse felt a bite on her calf. “I felt biting. I gave a little kick for the dog to leave. That’s when another black dog came to attack me.”

Delphine really did not appreciate the behavior of the young people. “I told them they were really unfriendly and I insulted them.” As she was trying to flee, one of the youths looked at her askance. “He glared at me and I held his gaze. As I turned to open the door, he pulled out an object which he brandished. I think it was a blade or a knife.” The nurse did not ask for her rest. She ran away. “I took refuge in my car. I am in shock following this event.”

Delphine has devoted her life to caring for others for twelve years. She first worked in nursing homes and hospitals before becoming a home nurse for ten years. She had never been the victim of such an attack. “I’m really disappointed with the nastiness of some people. I’m so shocked. I’ve never had a problem with any of my patients. The worst thing is that I have to continue to go there several times a day . I’m not reassured, but I have no choice. I have to take care of my patients.” The authorities have been notified of the facts. The investigation is ongoing. Despite this painful episode, Delphine will continue to devote her time and energy to her profession and her patients. “The patients are endearing. I don’t see myself doing anything else. We are called day and night, but I love my job. I will continue to do my job with as much passion. I am in love with my husband and my work “she finishes.
