Zapping UPtech by Men’s Up A week in a BMW CE 04
Decidedly, turntables have not finished reinventing themselves! The vinyl market has been booming in recent years, and for good reason: it allows an unparalleled musical listening experience, between the audio quality and the feeling of nostalgia inherent in vinyl. But no need to type in the expensive top of the range to enjoy it! Better, it is even possible to carry a 2-in-1 turntable (or even 3-in-1) for less than 250€, like this Victrola Revolution Go.

The Revolution Go is the latest from Victrola, American specialist in turntables since 1906. More than a century following its first devices, the brand continues to innovate and today offers us a real 2-in-1, capable of turn our vinyl records… or work without it! Delivered in complete packaging and accompanied by its essential accessories (strap, mains adapter), the Victrola Revolution Go takes the form of a transport “case” 33 cm wide and 12 cm high. Mainly made of plastic, the object therefore combines a turntable (platter, arm, reading head, speed selector, adapter), and a Bluetooth speaker integrated in the front. Rotary knob with LED light ring and multi-function cover complete the look of the set. On the back, the Victrola Revolution Go offers, from left to right: RCA output, 3.5 mm headphone output, power port, and charging indicator. A rather complete set therefore, and which benefits from a neat design. The Go is also entitled to a Victrola-exclusive anti-vibration enclosure. Note only switches as well as a “clip” for holding the hood that looks a little cheap, but which we are also and above all afraid that it will end up breaking over time. For the rest, main button, acoustic fabric and non-slip pads are of good quality.
Installation and ergonomics: intuitive versatility

A nomadic device, the Victrola Revolution Go is a completely plug and play turntable. Just make sure everything is loaded (a voice announcement tells us when you turn it on), and press the main button to navigate between the different functions. The luminous circle (blue, white, or flashing) allows us to know the status of the board. In classic vinyl mode, there is not much to do: just place our vinyl, then move the arm in order to place the playback head. Always very satisfying handling, which is part of the vinyl experience. We select the speed, and off we go. The Bluetooth mode is simple and effective: you switch to pairing, connect to the turntable, and use it like any other Bluetooth speaker. Finally, the “streaming” mode allows the Revolution Go to connect to an independent audio device. Whether with wireless headphones, or another speaker of our preference, the turntable can send the sound of our vinyl to the chosen device. Again, the manipulation is easy to perform, and very well indicated on the quick start guide. To sum up, it is possible to opt for a vinyl turntable with on-board audio; a Bluetooth speaker; or a turntable with wireless audio to the device of our choice. The Revolution Go is easy to use, not to mention the ingenious little detail that allows the lid to be used as a support for vinyl covers!

Under the shell, the Revolution Go houses two 5 W speakers for on-board stereo rendering. Failing to detail the components, the manufacturer confirms the presence of a passive radiator for the bass, as well as an anti-vibration box whose technology is exclusive to Victrola. In practice, in purely “Bluetooth speaker” use, all these beautiful people contribute to offering us surprisingly controlled sound. Even at maximum volume on the device, and at 70-80% on our smartphone, the rendering remains very clean and precise. The bass is deep without being too punchy, sufficient in any case for listening outdoors, in the park, in our garden, or on the balcony. What minimize the feeling of loss of bass listening. With vinyl on set, quality and precision are always on point thanks to the Audio-Technica AT-3600LA cartridge. The sound reproduction specific to vinyl is well restored, even if we will appreciate it especially indoors, for once. To get the most out of the Victrola Revolution Go, it is indeed the Vinyl Stream mode that stands out, since it combines both vinyl playback and sound reproduction on a speaker or external headphones. quality. What to enjoy and the vintage experience of vinyl, and the audio quality specific to our equipment. Finally, announced at 12 o’clock, the autonomy of the integrated 2,500 mAh/18 Wh battery is rather respected, since we were able to last a little over 11 hours at around 70% volume on the turntable. You will have understood it: continuous listening at a lower volume makes it possible to maintain autonomy without any problem. We also didn’t find a significant difference in endurance between Bluetooth alone and vinyl + Bluetooth training. In summary, the Victrola Revolution Go is an innovative turntable, to say the least, thanks to its nomadic design and its versatility. If music lovers prefer to go through the Vinyl Stream for optimal quality, others will appreciate the charm of vinyl, nomadic version. Everything has an attractive price of 249€, which makes us forget the small plastic details that might be improved. It’s validated !
