If you’re eagerly catching any crumbs of news regarding God of War Ragnarok, you might be interested in a new video regarding the project’s combat system. The clip demonstrates daring ultra-violence in the fight once morest new enemies – bipedal upright lizards.
Although many combat elements repeat the classic moves from the original God of War, the heroes will still have new moves, and legendary weapons forged by the gods themselves will help them in battles.
Kratos will now be able to enter a sort of berserker rage and fill his weapons with ice or fire depending on his current equipment. So, the ax will become the Ice Awakening artifact, and the Blades of Chaos will receive the Whip special move, which deals additional damage.
In addition, Ragnarok appears to be upgrading Kratos’ shield, apart from the fact that you can now find new protections and replace the standard equipment with them. Like weapons, shields will get their own special moves that will diversify combat.
One of the new skills is a devastating blow that allows you to knock up and stun enemies when the player parries an attack at the last moment. The Stone Wall special allows you to build up power every time the player is hit, and then unleash a powerful momentum that can knock down opponents.
The trade-off, however, is that Kratos becomes more susceptible to block-breaking attacks when using these special moves.
The release of God of War Ragnarok is scheduled for November 9th. The game will be released on PlayStation 4 and 5.
