Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the ministry is keen to follow up on global health events that are published on the WHO website and other websites, with the aim of monitoring developments on the international scene, with regard to health events.
And “Abdul Ghaffar” added, in statements to reporters, today, Thursday, that the World Health Organization announced, on its official website, that it had monitored 91 cases of hepatitis of unknown cause, including (74 cases in Britain, 9 cases in the United States of America, 5 cases in Ireland and 3 cases in Spain). In addition to a number of infections in Denmark and the Netherlands, stressing that no deaths have been reported among those cases and there is no risk of transmission of the disease from person to person to date.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Health and Population, through the preventive medicine sector, continuously monitors health events and routinely monitors them through the national surveillance system at all levels inside Egypt, through the National Electronic Program for Disease Surveillance, and the cross-event surveillance system, stressing that there are no cases of hepatitis. “Abdul Ghaffar” explained that, in the interest of the preventive sector at the Ministry of Health and Population to update health information and educate all health officials regarding any developments in the field of health at the global level, a scientific publication has been circulated to all hospitals in all governorates at the level of the Republic with the aim of increasing the awareness of workers, and within the framework of Preventive and precautionary measures taken when reporting any health event through the World Health Organization or international health authorities.
The official spokesman of the Ministry of Health and Population stressed the continuation of continuous follow-up and monitoring of all health events at the local, regional and international levels.
