A new sculpture trail in Braunau

The Innviertel Artists’ Guild was founded 100 years ago – in the city of Braunau. The guild therefore wants to beautify the place where it was founded in the big anniversary year and is implementing the “Steel Sculptor Symposium” project together with the city. The people of Braunau will soon be able to see the results of this symposium: eight new sculptures will be installed in the city area. The sculpture trail goes back to the initiative of the late sculptor Walter Holzinger and Hanna Kirmann.

Eight of the guild’s steel sculptors each created a work specifically for Braunau. Each work refers to the history of the city, the cityscape or the location. These works were created in August in the Braunau market hall. Walter Holzinger’s work was commissioned. Stefan Esterbauer from Hochburg, Dietmar Gruber from Hohenzell, Harald Herkner from Lohnsburg, Rolf Laven from Vienna, Paul Osterberger from Riedau, Christine Perseis from Mondsee and Andreas Sagmeister from Raab worked on their sculptures directly on site in the summer.

Now the IKG is taking the next step with the city: the sculptures are being placed around the city center and a new sculpture path is being created that offers art in public spaces. Assembly of the works began this week and the official handover is scheduled for Friday, November 17th.
