Named following the Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, these cattle are scientifically classified as Bos indicus and are from the robust and adaptable Ongole cattle breed of India.

The first pair of Ongole cattle was introduced in Brazil in 1868, following which the spread of this breed began in the country.

The Nellore breed’s ability to thrive in hot temperatures, its efficient metabolism and resistance to infection have increased its importance among cattle breeders.

The importance of Viatina 19 Five-Mara Emovis goes beyond its individual value because of its genetic material, which is expected to carry all the superior traits in the new generation it produces.
