A new president for the French Anti-Doping Agency

The French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) is changing direction, a month and a half before the start of the Rugby World Cup and less than a year from the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Béatrice Bourgeois, who was until then deputy president of the social section of the Council of State, was appointed by official decree, Friday, July 28, president of the AFLD to replace Dominique Laurent, who has reached the age limit set for this position.

The latter, also a State Councillor, has been leading this agency founded in 2006 since July 2017, the objective of which is to define actions to fight once morest doping in France. In a press release published on Friday, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, welcomed “the unfailing commitment, rigor and impact of Dominique Laurent in the service of a clean sport. Ms. Laurent has, among other things, worked for the administrative separation of the anti-doping laboratory in Orsay (Essonne) from the AFLD – a requirement of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

A graduate of the National School of Administration (Nelson Mandela class, graduated in 2001), Béatrice Bourgeois will take up her duties at the agency on Saturday 29 July. “The new president will continue the mobilization of the AFLD in the service of the prevention and fight once morest doping”, is it written in the press release. Two major events on French soil are in the line of sight: the Rugby World Cup, which will start on September 8, and the Olympic Games, from July 26, 2024.
