The new investor envisages the development of the Akmene SEZ in two stages. In the first phase, heavy vehicle repair workshops will be installed by the end of this year. The company will provide heavy vehicle repair, computer diagnostics, maintenance and other services. The amount of this stage will reach 900 thousand. Eur, during which almost 1100 sq.m. will be developed. m workshop building.
In the second phase until 2025 “Akmenės servisas” will install a variety of heavy-duty vehicles on the site – freight, utility, construction, etc. – a washing machine. This investment will amount to another 200 thousand. Eur.
During the entire project, the company plans to create 20-25 jobs, mainly for heavy vehicle repair and maintenance masters.
According to Romuald Balčytis, the director of “Akmenės servisos”, Akmenės SEZ was chosen for development due to the large business community already operating in the area and smooth establishment processes. Also, the entire Akmene region already had a strong production infrastructure, but extremely limited opportunities for heavy transport.
“In just five years, the Akmenės LEZ has become one of the largest centers of advanced industry in Northern and Western Lithuania with a corresponding demand for modern heavy transport maintenance services, so locating in the neighborhood of such a business community is both an honor and a good business opportunity.” On the other hand, we see further potential not only in the SEZ, but also in the ambitious municipality of Akmenė district and the region of North-West Lithuania. The process focused on a smooth and fast start by the Akmenė LEZ team deserves a separate word”, comments R. Balčytis.
Lina Mockutė, head of the Akmenė SEZ, welcomes the new investor who will create obvious added value for the local community. In the near future, the free zone expects to announce more development news related not only to services but also to production.
“We are actively working to expand the portfolio of investors far beyond the boundaries of one large business group. “Akmenės servisas” is a great start, we continue to negotiate with several innovative Lithuanian and foreign manufacturers, so we hope to bring even more added value and creativity to Akmenės district soon,” says L. Mockutė.
Currently, the Akmenės LEZ is operated by wood chipboard producer UAB “VMG Wood Solutions”, heat supplier UAB “Rietuva”, cabinet furniture manufacturer UAB “VMG Akmenės baldai”, equipment maintenance and process automation UAB “VMG Service Akmenė”, manufacturer of construction wood solutions UAB. “VMG Lignum Construction” and UAB “Akmenės projektai” performing real estate activities. The free zone specializes in the timber, construction, energy and logistics sectors, but is open to other business segments as well.
