A new international campus on the horse | handles

The International Equine Campus will be built on the Goustranville site, in Normandy. This one already hosts the unit Pathophysiology and epidemiology of equine diseases (PhEED) of ANSES’s animal health laboratory, the Center for Imaging and Research into Equine Locomotor Disorders (Cirale) of the National Veterinary School of Alfort (ENVA) and the racing laboratory of the National Federation of Horse races.

Renovation and refitting of ANSES premises

The project, led by the Normandie Equine Vallée mixed syndicate, is financed by the Normandy region, the Calvados department, the Eperon funds, the State and European funds. It aims to give the site an international dimension. The funding received by ANSES’s PhEED unit will be used to renovate and redevelop premises, while reducing the number of buildings, for the sake of energy saving and rationalization. The laboratories will be optimized, while a new reception hall, offices, storage areas for materials and archives as well as a new meeting room will be created.

The renovation of the premises dedicated to research will enable the PhEED unit tobroaden the spectrum of its research projects and to strengthen scientific collaborations and partnerships, by welcoming new researchers of international reputation. This will strengthen the unit in the exercise of its numerous European and international reference mandates.

Strengthened collaboration with the National Veterinary School of Alfort

THE links between training and research will also be strengthened. The relocation of ENVA students specializing in equine health to the campus will make it possible to organize regular training within the PhEED unit. The unit can also benefit from the future connected clinical amphitheater. This will make it possible to broadcast remotely and live interventions and diagnostic procedures carried out on a horse. The amphitheater will also be able to host international scientific events.

The construction of other buildings is planned on the campus, to accommodate the care and training activities of ENVA, as well as associations and innovative companies in the equine field.
