A new indigenization plan has been announced in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: A new indigenization plan has been announced in the country. The new project will create one hundred and seventy thousand jobs for the natives in the private sector. The aim of the project is to reduce the unemployment rate in the country to 7 percent.

The Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development has announced a scheme called ‘Thouteen 2’ which will create 1,70,000 jobs in the private sector. 25,000 jobs will be created in the industrial sector, 20,000 in the health sector and 20,000 in the transport and logistics sector. Also, the project aims to create 20,000 jobs in the real estate and construction sector, 30,000 in the tourism sector, 15,000 in the trade sector and 40,000 in other sectors.

A report will be prepared on the employment opportunities and labor requirements of each sector under the supervision of the Supervisory Committees. The Supervisory Committees consist of 6 Ministries including Tourism, Commerce, Transport and Logistics Services, Health, Municipal and Rural Affairs, Housing, Industry and Mineral Resources. A scheme called ‘Skills Accelerator and Training Program’ has also been launched to enhance the job skills of the workers. The main objective of the project is to reduce the unemployment rate in the country to 7 percent.
