A new German at the head of Brussels Airlines: “She will have to restore order at the top of human resources management”

A German succeeds a German at the head of Brussels Airlines. The Belgian company has just announced the name of its new CEO: it is Dorothea von Boxberg, who currently heads the cargo subsidiary of the Lufthansa group, of which Brussels Airlines is a part. The 49-year-old German takes over from the current boss ad interim of the Belgian company, her compatriot Christina Foerster. At the helm of Brussels Airlines between 2018 and 2020, Ms Foerster had herself replaced Peter Gerber, who had left his post at the end of January with immediate effect.

Dorothea von Boxberg began her professional career in 1999 with Boston Consulting Group. In 2007, she joined the Lufthansa Group, where she held various management positions. She was notably responsible for the design of the customer experience for the Frankfurt company. During this period, she and her team introduced a new generation of business class seats.

In 2015, a new turning point: Dorothea von Boxberg joined the cargo subsidiary of Lufthansa, of which she will become the boss in 2021. In addition to managing Brussels Airlines, the graduate in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Berlin will also assume the function of representative of the committee Executive of the Lufthansa Group to the European Commission. “With her in-depth knowledge and broad understanding of cargo and passenger airlines, Dorothea Von Boxberg will continue to drive the successful transformation of Brussels Airlines, Belgium’s flag carrier, in the years to come”enthuses Christina Foerster, the current CEO of Brussels Airlines, who also remains a member of the Lufthansa Group management committee and chairwoman of the board of directors of SN Airholding.

According to Didier Lebbe, permanent employee of the CNE, the first task of the new CEO should be to “restore order at the top of human resource management. If nothing is done urgently, it will go wrong”announces the union representative.
