FICAM (Federation of Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries) has just created a Commission bringing together French film studios which will strengthen the representativeness of these companies within the Federation.

Film studios, in their entirety, represent a key challenge for production in France since FICAM estimates the studio activity at nearly €130 million in turnover and 87,000 m2 of available space* across all markets of interest to the Federation (Feature film, TV fiction, Streams, ) and across the entire territory.

Following the announcement of the 11 “filming studio” winners from the Grande Fabrique de l’image call for projects, as part of the France 2030 investment plan, the ambition displayed by the public authorities is doubling the available surface areas and modernizing tools in order to continue to meet the requirements of both local and international production, this structuring of the sector is entirely legitimate.

While the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, announces that “the first payments for the construction and modernization of the filming studios are planned for the 2nd quarter of 2024”, FICAM and the studios believe that well-identified representation will make it possible to bring effectively a common voice with public authorities on present and future issues.

The commission will support all the platforms in their strategic, digital and sustainable positioning, taking into account the diversity of their typologies and sizes. It will make it possible to address economic, technical, social and attractiveness themes essential to the continuation of this structuring of the sector.
