Microsoft gave a glimpse of what feature Moment 2 might provide in January 2023, since Windows 11 version 22H2 has been dedicated to releasing minor feature updates, known internally as “Moment”. The first gave us much-needed tabs in File Explorer along with Context IQ technology. The next build of Windows 11 22H2 “Moment” is tentatively scheduled for early 2023, according to sources, following being tested throughout 2022.
In a recent Windows Insider webcast on YouTube, it showed a preview demo of Windows 11 – with a deeper touch-optimized taskbar for tablets, this build appears to be referring to “Moment 2” of this build of Windows 11, version 22H2.
The full changelog for “Moment 2” isn’t known yet, but in the webcast, Windows Insider viewers at least got a glimpse of how the tablet’s taskbar will look and move, Digitartlends reports.
Several of them may have already tested this feature as part of Windows Insider, the company’s public testing sandbox.
Keep in mind that Microsoft intends to ship Build 23003 as a cumulative update from either Build 22621 or 22622 to Build 22623.
And if that sounds confusing, it’s because “Moment 2” isn’t a new OS version, but an update to the existing 22H2 version instead.
Also note that these new “Moment” features don’t come with Windows 11 22H2, which doesn’t give users a clear timeline of when these features will arrive.
Microsoft appears to be aware of these confusing ads and has promised to provide details in the updated documentation.
