A new circular from commerce regarding stores’ announcement of “discounts” • Al Marsad newspaper

Al-Marsad newspaper: The Ministry of Commerce has obliged shop owners not to announce the discounts more than 15 days before the scheduled start date, provided that the license number and the actual reduction percentage are mentioned in the advertisement.
The Ministry added, according to Okaz, that if the advertisement is on the front of the store, it should not be placed more than a week before the start of the sale.
The “Commerce” also obligated the merchant to place the discount license or a copy of it in a prominent place for the consumer, and in the event the store announced comprehensive discounts, all the exhibits in the store must be subject to it, but if the store announced partial discounts, it must not be less than 50% of the offered products.
She indicated the need for the store to put labels on the products covered by the discount clearly showing the prices of the products before and following the discount and the percentage of the reduction, and the consumer has the right to know the duration of the discounts and their start and end dates.
The “Ministry” stressed that the product included in the discounts should not be adulterated or corrupt, and that the product included in the discounts conforms to the approved standard specifications.
She stressed that the product included in the discounts is covered by maintenance insurance, spare parts, quality assurance of manufacture, and the conditions usually set by producers, noting that the replacement and return of the products covered by the discounts is according to the store’s policy at the time of sale.
