The Nothing brand will market its first smartphone in 2022.
Founded by Carl Pei, one of the co-founders of the OnePlus brand, Nothing marketed its first product in 2021, a pair of headphones with a minimalist look, the ear 1. A year later, the company returns with a new project much more ambitious. In 2022, Nothing will market its first smartphone, an Android terminal with a very light software overlay called Nothing OS.
“Nothing OS is built on an open and homogeneous ecosystem” explains the company. “Nothing OS takes the best of the pure Android experience and brings the operating system back to basics, where every feature has real added value for users. Nothing OS is designed to provide a fast and smooth experience. The hardware of Nothing products also integrates seamlessly with the software with custom fonts, colors, graphics and sounds combined with a consistent interface.”
The brand did not reveal the design of its device, contenting itself with revealing its interface and briefly talking regarding its vision. The phone (1), that’s its name, will be a top-of-the-range model with a latest-generation Qualcomm processor and built around a united ecosystem and a very minimalist design. Its marketing is planned for 2022 in Europe. Like the brand’s headphones, it should be offered at a competitive price.
