In the summer of 2015, he transferred to Fehérvár, where he spent eight years – with a one-year detour in Győr – before signing a contract with Mezőkövesd last year. In 2018, Kovácsik became the Hungarian champion with Videoton, with whom he won the Hungarian Cup a year later. Péter Szappanos leaves Paks and continues with the Saudi team

The goalkeeper of the Hungarian national team, Péter Szappanos, said goodbye to Paksi FC on his social media page and is leaving the cup winner.

“It is a great pleasure and honor that I was able to confirm for Paks. I am grateful that I can be here, that the club leaders thought of me after Szappanos left. My goals are clear, I want to experience a successful season with the team similar to last year. It would be nice to win a medal and a cup again, the last time I was part of such things, my little son was very small, but from my point of view, it would also be great to have a satisfied conclusion after a year. I miss successes. Most of the team is familiar, I have only heard good things about the environment in the dressing room. The close-knit, family atmosphere is also visible from the outside, this is the strength of Paks. I would like to be a full-fledged member of the team as soon as possible, I am excitedly waiting for the tasks” Kovácsik told paksifc.hu.

After five rounds – but having played four matches – Paks is in fourth place in the table with seven points, and on Thursday they will play for the Conference League group stage against Mladá Boleslav, with which they finished 2-2 in the first away match.
