A NASA helicopter succeeds in its 43rd flight to Mars.. Know its details

flew Mars helicopter NASA’s Ingenuity once more, covering a large area on red planet more than in a single sortie in nearly a year, and the flight was the 43rd for the 4-pound (1.8-kg) aircraft, which landed on Mars with the Perseverance rover in February 2021.

According to Space, this latest jump covered 1,280 feet (390 meters) of the Red Planet’s ground, according to Ingenuity’s flight log.

The helicopter has not flown this far since April 29, 2022, when it traveled 1,371 feet (418 meters). However, that April 29 flight did not set a record, as the longest helicopter flight ever occurred three weeks earlier than the previous date. on April 8, when the little robot achieved 2,310 feet (710 meters) on the odometer.



The helicopter now serves as a scout for the Perseverance rover, which is searching for signs of past Martian life and collecting and storing dozens of samples for future return to Earth.
