The strange phenomenon took place in the city of Mildura, in the south-east of the country.
The inhabitants of Mildura had the fear of their life. Wednesday evening, a mysterious pink glow was visible in the sky of this city of 30,000 inhabitants of the State of Victoria in Australia. A phenomenon shared on the networks where very quickly the most crazy theses followed one another. Aliens? Northern Lights ? “It was very weird”, “I was on the phone with my mother and my father said that the world was ending”said witnesses to the Guardian.
The light was caused by a medical cannabis plant
But in reality, the explanation is much more rational. This light came from a local pharmaceutical company, Cann Group, responsible in particular for the production of cannabis for therapeutic use.
“Cannabis plants need different light spectra to help them grow,” said Rhys Cohen, head of communications for Cann Group. “A red spectrum light is often used. Normally the facility has blackout blinds that come down at night and block out that glare.” A panic simply caused by an oversight or a malfunction.
#Mildura and surrounds were treated to a spectacular sight tonight when a red light appeared in the sky.
Was it aliens?
An aurora?
No, it appears to have been the hydroponic lights from a medicinal cannabis farm reflecting off cloud which is somehow the most Mildura answer ever. pic.twitter.com/Wfy63tRrng— Sarah Tomlinson (@sarah_tomlinson) July 19, 2022
