The organization also announced on Saturday evening that it had so far received reports of at least 169 cases of “acute hepatitis of unknown origin” in 12 countries.

The World Health Organization did not say which country witnessed the death. The first cases of infection were also recorded in Britain, where 114 children were infected.

“It is not yet clear whether there has been an increase in hepatitis cases, or an increase in awareness of hepatitis cases that are occurring at the expected rate but have not been detected,” the WHO said in a statement.

Experts say the cases may be related to a virus commonly associated with the common cold, but more research is needed.

Also, the World Organization said, “Despite the hypotheses regarding the responsibility of the adenovirus, but investigations are still ongoing regarding the causative agent,” noting that the virus was discovered in at least 74 cases. And it was confirmed that at least 20 of the children were infected with the Corona virus.

The organization also stated that the affected countries are intensifying their monitoring of cases of hepatitis in children.
