Researchers working with the Subaru telescope said in a Twitter post that the phenomenon might be linked to the launch of a new SpaceX satellite.
Experts interviewed by CNN explain that these spirals can occur when part of a satellite ejects fuel.
This spatial phenomenon can also occur during the rotation of a satellite since the latter creates a trail behind it.
Similar events have been seen before, according to CNN, including once following the launch of a Falcon 9 in California last year.
