Some netizens expressed shock. Several people thought they discovered similarities with the traces left by the Harry Potter dementors, as well as with an alleged extraterrestrial being. Others were more cautious and stated that it was a cloud resulting from the pollution of a city with nearly 12 million inhabitants.
However, the recording already has more than a million reproductions on Twitter, garnering thousands of likes and hundreds of comments from netizens who tried to make sense of the rare phenomenon with conspiracy theories.
This is not the first time that a black ring has been seen in the sky
Moscow is not the only one where locals thought they had discovered a similar celestial phenomenon. In Colombia, for example, such a dark ring was recorded in the city of Barrancabermeja in 2021 above an Ecopetrol refinery.
As in Moscow, citizens of Colombia took to the streets to record the event with their cell phones, which was eventually explained away by some scientists who stated that it was likely the product of an oil valve escaping and not the “with other worlds” the result of the interaction of
“These are smoke rings generated by a large structure. Smoke can also be created accidentally, as happened in Argentina. As for the Barrancabermeja case, it might have been due to a ship on the Magdalena River or the oil complex” Luis Núñez, a staff member at the Halley Astronomy Center of the UIS University, told Blu Radio at the time.
According to The Sun, the black smoke rings may be caused by a small burn or explosion that escapes into the air through a circular structure, leaving a ring or ring shape in the sky. In 2012, an exploded electrical transformer caused a similar incident over Chicago, which also caused a lot of dust on the various platforms. The same thing happened in Leamington Spa, UK, due to a test firework that sent black gunpowder into the air.
