The public spaces monitoring and enforcement team of the Dutch municipality of Middelburg did not fall for the trap. Although the attempt was ambitious, they pinned the man who tried to scam them on Instagram.
The driver of a Volvo has indeed hung a simple rope between his tank and an electric charging board. If it looked like his car was charging and he could take advantage of the parking lot, it wasn’t. “Putting a piece of rope in your fuel tank cap charges badly,” the social media post read.
The post quickly went viral. The motorist gets away with a nice fine of 109 euros.
