A Montreal Burger King serves him raw chicken: ‘I was angry’

A customer at a Burger King restaurant in Montreal said she was “enraged” following realizing that the piece of chicken in her burger was raw.

Mona Saib went to a branch of the fast food chain at the corner of Guy and Sainte-Catherine streets, in downtown Montreal, on the night of Thursday to Friday.

Arrived on site, she is informed that the business is preparing to no longer accept new orders. It was around 3am, as the restaurant closed an hour later.

She finally manages to order a crispy chicken sandwich, and decides to eat it in an Uber taxi that was taking her home.

After a few bites, she notices an abnormal taste in her burger, which, according to her, “was masked by the sauce and mayonnaise”. So she decides to pack it back in the taxi.

Returned to her accommodation, Mona inspects the quality of the sandwich. It is at this moment that she discovers with amazement that she has been served raw chicken.

Remember that Mona had already eaten part of her meal. She claims to have felt digestive ailments a few moments later.

“I was shocked to see the raw, gooey piece of chicken,” she shared on Instagram.

Joined by TVA Nouvelles, Mona Saib still can’t believe what happened to her. Initially, she was enraged that the employees served her the raw food.

“I was really angry. The restaurant was supposed to close at 4am […] I was clearly their last customer of the evening (since the employees wanted to close early). The chicken was clearly raw, as well as being covered in breading. It had never happened to me in the past,” she said.

She claims to have vomited 10 hours following eating the burger. Since then, she fears being infected with salmonellosis.

“I was disrespected. The risk that I will still be infected is quite high. I had to take Friday off. I still have digestive issues. I expect my situation to get worse in the next few hours.”

The branch manager reportedly contacted Mona the next day. According to her, he offered her a refund for her sandwich and a free meal on her next visit.

“It’s clear that I’m not going back to eat there,” she confessed.

The Burger King Canada team contacted her, but did not respond, as the company simply claimed the chicken was undercooked.

For her, it was an obvious lie: “He was completely believed”, she hammered twice.

We have attempted to contact Burger King’s parent company, Restaurants Brands International, to no avail.
