Like thousands of owners of SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland, Michel Gindre uses Winbiz accounting and invoicing software. Following the cyberattack which affected the Bernese host Infopro on Monday, November 21, this Sedun pharmacist temporarily lost access to his data. When he reinstalled Winbiz three weeks later, Michel Gindre was amazed to find that he could access a list of hundreds of user names from other Winbiz client companies in Romandie. “It was incredible, says the pharmacist, video in support. Myself, I have no sensitive data, but from there it is transmitted to everyone…” Following the advice of a computer expert, Michel Gindre did not attempt to open the records of other clients, which could have constituted a criminal offence. A few days later, the situation was restored.
