A new GTA 5 mod offers a new, somewhat peculiar story separate from the game’s main storyline. With this mod, all NPCs are powered by over 30 AI models, making interactions even more natural and immersive.

GTA 5 is released in 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but it is still popular with gamers. It is available on all platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S. GTA 5’s multiplayer mode and countless community-created mods on PC make the game immortal, at least until the release of GTA 6 whose the development was recently confirmed.

The modder under the pseudonym “Bloc” has launched a new mod called Inworld Sentient Streets. It is a mod that offers you to follow a story completely different from the main storyline of GTA 5. The main peculiarity of this mod is that NPCs (non-playable characters) are powered by more than 30 AI models.
In the Inworld Sentient Streets mod, the player steps into the shoes of an officer within of the Los Santos Police Department (the famous LSPD). The player chooses a partner from among three proposed options, each of which has its own characteristics. He must then solve criminal problems, make choices, make decisions, etc. Communication with NPCs is done orally.
More precisely, the player is confronted with a dangerous sect that wants to take over the city. Cultists are convinced that they live in a video game and worship artificial intelligence. All interactions with NPCs are therefore more natural and richer than before thanks to artificial intelligence models. Those are ” real-time open conversations with eccentric cult members, wily policemen and unsuspecting civilians ».

Note that the NPCs in this mod are powered by the Inworld AI engine which allows to create AI characters. It is an alternative to ChatGPT which is in competition with the artificial intelligence developed by Apple.
The voices of the characters were entrusted to ElevenLabs, another company specializing in artificial intelligence. Finally, if you are interested in the mod, it is available for free download on NexusMods website. We can now expect that ChatGPT-style artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in gaming.
